Concrete Shed Base Sydney
Level, moisture-free bases for any shed or workshop
A concrete shed base is one of the most straightforward concrete jobs on a residential property — but it still needs to be done right. An unlevel base causes the shed frame to rack and twist, doors that won't close, and water pooling inside. A slab without a moisture barrier causes rust on tools and fittings, and eventual structural deterioration of the shed floor framing.
About Our Shed Bases Service
A concrete shed base is one of the most straightforward concrete jobs on a residential property — but it still needs to be done right. An unlevel base causes the shed frame to rack and twist, doors that won't close, and water pooling inside. A slab without a moisture barrier causes rust on tools and fittings, and eventual structural deterioration of the shed floor framing.
We install concrete shed bases for all standard kit shed sizes from 3m × 3m garden sheds to 9m × 6m workshop sheds and larger. The slab is formed, poured, screeded level, and finished with a broom texture for grip. Every base includes a moisture barrier and is poured with correct drainage falls away from the shed door.
We can coordinate with your shed supplier to ensure the slab dimensions, anchor bolt layout, and concrete thickness all match the shed's structural requirements.

Shed Bases — Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions from Sydney homeowners and builders.
How much does a concrete shed base cost in Sydney?
A standard concrete shed base in Sydney costs approximately $80–$100/m² all-in. A 3m × 3m garden shed base (9m²) runs $900–$1,200 including GST. A 6m × 4m shed base (24m²) costs $2,200–$3,000. A larger 9m × 6m workshop slab (54m²) is typically $5,500–$7,000. Prices include concrete, labour, moisture barrier, and formwork.
How thick should a concrete shed base be?
75mm is the minimum for a light garden shed with no vehicle access. 100mm is standard for most residential sheds. 125mm is recommended for sheds that will have vehicle access (e.g., ride-on mower, motorbike) or hold very heavy equipment like a car lift or large machinery.
Should I install the shed base before or after ordering the shed?
Before the shed kit arrives is ideal — you have time to cure the slab properly and the site is clear for the shed installers. However, confirm the exact slab dimensions with your shed supplier first, as the base needs to match the frame layout. We're happy to work from the shed supplier's drawings.
Do I need council approval for a shed base?
In most Sydney LGAs, a concrete shed base for a shed under the exempt development threshold (typically under 20m² and under 3m high) does not require approval. If the shed itself requires a development application or complying development certificate, the slab will also be covered by that approval. We can advise on your LGA's specific rules.
Can the shed base include a step or ramp?
Yes — if the shed slab is raised above the surrounding ground level, we can form and pour a step or ramp as part of the same pour. This is more efficient than a separate job and ensures the step or ramp is monolithic with the slab.

Concrete Slabs Sydney
A concrete slab is the foundation of nearly every Sydney construction project — from a backyard shed to a new house. Getting the slab right means getting the grade, reinforcement, thickness, and subgrade preparation correct from the start. Cut corners here and you're fixing cracks and movement for years.
Learn more →Concrete Footings Sydney
Footings are the most structurally critical concrete work on any building project — they transfer the entire load of the structure into the ground. Getting them wrong means cracked walls, sticking doors, and expensive remediation years down the track. Getting them right means a building that performs for its full design life.
Learn more →Concrete Paths Sydney
A well-laid concrete path does more for a property than most owners expect — it improves accessibility, creates visual order in the garden, reduces mud tracking, and adds kerb appeal that shows up in property valuations. Unlike paving, gravel, or timber, concrete paths are permanent, weed-free, and require no maintenance beyond an occasional clean.
Learn more →Concrete Driveways Sydney
A properly laid concrete driveway is one of the highest-return upgrades you can make to a Sydney home. Unlike pavers, which shift and weed over time, or asphalt, which softens in summer heat, a concrete driveway is structural, permanent, and low-maintenance for decades.
