Dominate Concrete pours residential and light commercial slabs across Sydney Metro. We supply our own formwork, organise the concrete truck and pump where required, and leave the site clean and level. All residential slabs are poured to comply with AS 2870 — the Australian standard for residential slabs and footings.
Whether you need a simple 20m² shed base in the backyard or a full house slab requiring an engineer's design, we can quote and complete the work end-to-end.

What to expect from the first call to finished product.
Design and assessment — we review the intended use, soil type, and any existing engineering reports to confirm slab specification
Excavation and subgrade preparation — the area is cut to depth, base compacted, and vapour barrier installed where required
Formwork and reinforcement — edge forms set level, mesh or rebar laid to specification with correct chair height
Pour and screed — concrete placed by truck or pump, screeded level, and finished to the required surface texture
Curing and handover — curing compound applied, slab protected for the cure period, site cleaned and inspected before handover

Slabs — Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions from Sydney homeowners and builders.
How much does a concrete slab cost in Sydney?
A basic 20m² shed base slab in Sydney Metro costs approximately $2,500–$3,500 including GST. A 36m² garage slab runs $4,500–$6,000. Alfresco and patio slabs with decorative finishes range from $5,000–$9,000 for a typical 30–40m². House slabs require individual quoting based on the engineer's design.
How thick should a concrete slab be?
Standard shed base: 75–100mm. Garage floor or alfresco slab: 100mm. House slab: 100–150mm as per engineer's specification. Thicker is not always better without proper sub-base preparation — a well-compacted base with correctly-placed mesh performs better than a thick slab on a poor base.
Do I need a vapour barrier under my slab?
A vapour barrier (heavy-duty polyethylene sheeting) is required under any slab that will have a finished floor laid on top, or in areas with known moisture. It's standard practice on house slabs and garage floors. We include it wherever the conditions require it.
Can you pour a slab in sections?
Yes — for larger areas or sites with access constraints, we pour in sections with construction joints. We plan the joint layout to minimise visible cracking and ensure the sections are bonded or dowelled correctly.
How long before I can build on the slab?
Light framing can typically begin after 7 days. Steel framing and structural loads should wait until 28 days for full cure strength. Your building certifier and frame supplier will also have specific requirements — we provide a pour date certificate on request.

Concrete Footings Sydney
Footings are the most structurally critical concrete work on any building project — they transfer the entire load of the structure into the ground. Getting them wrong means cracked walls, sticking doors, and expensive remediation years down the track. Getting them right means a building that performs for its full design life.
Learn more →Shed Base Concrete Sydney
A concrete shed base is one of the most straightforward concrete jobs on a residential property — but it still needs to be done right. An unlevel base causes the shed frame to rack and twist, doors that won't close, and water pooling inside. A slab without a moisture barrier causes rust on tools and fittings, and eventual structural deterioration of the shed floor framing.
Learn more →Pool Surrounds Sydney
The area around a Sydney swimming pool takes more punishment than almost any other surface on the property — constant wetting and drying, chlorine contact, UV exposure, bare feet, and occasional impact. It needs to be non-slip when wet, visually appealing, and durable enough to last decades without constant maintenance.
Learn more →Concrete Driveways Sydney
A properly laid concrete driveway is one of the highest-return upgrades you can make to a Sydney home. Unlike pavers, which shift and weed over time, or asphalt, which softens in summer heat, a concrete driveway is structural, permanent, and low-maintenance for decades.
